Record Company (Institutions) 'Epitaph' and 'Fueled by Ramen'

I set my friends on fire
We searched into google 'rock indie record companies'. One that came up was Epitaph, this record company has promoted bands such as 'I set my friends on Fire' and 'Bring me the horizon'. We believe that Epitaph would promote our band because it is the similar kind of music to what they already promote. 'Bring me the Horizon' has become a very well known band, especially in the indie rock sections in music stores and online. When comparing our band to the other bands on this site; the bands are mainly all male. I believe the reason to this could be rock and punk music can be quite violent and explicit and when talking about stereotypes female shouldn't been seen saying or watching things like that. But that is what makes our band so unique is that we are a full female rock indie band. But there was one band that had a female in it they were called, 'Heartsounds'. So not everyone matches the stereotypes.

Bring me the Horizon

When looking at our CD cover some bands from the record  label; a few of the bands have a similar style. i think out of most of the bands off this Record label; the one that looks most like our CD cover was Bad Religion. Not because of the person but because of the fuzziness to the picture. Our CD cover sort of has this effect too.

Bad Religion

For our research i looked at Paramore because this band has a rock genre and and bit punk genre too. There record label is 'Fueled by Ramen'. Other bands that are also from Fueled by Ramen are 'Versa Emerge', 'Panic! At the Disco' and 'Cobra Starship'. Another reason i looked into Paramore was because the band had a female in it. Plus because i was being the singing in the band this would be a good band to look in to and learn how the singer acts. Fueled by Ramen has some more bands that have females in them that Epitaph so there is more of a chance that this record label would promote us more than Epitaph. Another band that we did look at was Versa Emerge; the lead singer of this band is also female.

When looking at the CD covers from the bands with the record label 'Fueled by ramen' the bands with females in it don't really match our CD cover but the CD cover and digi pack is more up to the band not the record label.

In Conclusion i would say that 'Fueled by Ramen' is more likely to promote our band because they have more bands that are similar to ours.Plus they have bands with at least one female in them but either of the record labels have a full female band. Also our bands image is a mix of a few bands so our band can attract a range of audiences, for example psycho can attract the goths, cherry can attract the indie and Dead could attract the rock group. Plus the band would target the female audience because we are all female but also the male audience because we are all females and because of voyerism.
